Bye, Bye, Entrecard

The death knell was coming. In fact it came and passed a long time ago. When I first joined Entrecard in this blog's infancy, it was a neat way to bolster traffic to a new and upcoming blog. With the mere price of hosting an advertising button and clicking other's (visiting). It was a good trade off. And I found many, many WoW blogs in doing so. Heck many interesting and fun blogs outside of my niche were found. And so meeting people and getting visited by turn it was fun. For awhile.

Then I wanted as many people as possible to come back. But to look popular I had to click on as many blogs as possible. Reading 300 blogs is impossible in 1 day. So I began to blog surf, then onto joining drop lists. This was taking more time than writing the blog. So I dropped less and less till I stopped. I still visited friends and they me, I just didn't feel up to it.

But I kept it on for the free advertising for others and for me. Then the paid ads came about. I at first took some from people I knew. No bigs, help them, they help me. They they found it was not worth it. That and company advertisers who obviously did not blog were buying ad slots. A backlash happened. People quit all together Entrecard.

But I kept it cause I saw hope. But then the final straw happened. As yalls know, I stepped out for a month or so to reconnect with WoW. I didn't maintain it as much and I needed a break. So when I came back I fixed small things, like the ad space and what not. But I saw ads from Entrecard that I did not approve nor would support. Eye glass care? How to get rich? Scammier and scammier ads? Really Entrecard, really?

And the top drops lists has never changed in months. Either these guys really love me, or I only get hits from them. I'd like to think the later! Besides I vist them all the time anyway.

In the end I get more hits from friends blogs, the roulette wheel from The Matthias Chronicles, and many more sources than Entrecard. I just don't need it anymore. So so long, Entrrecard. Thanks for all the fish.

Hey DS,

You're not alone with this, I have been contemplating leaving Entrecard for some time.

Basically I dont agree with they're policies, showing paid ads even if rejected, and showing paid ads before you decide to reject etc.

Anyways looking at alternatives ;)

Yea that paid ad with my approval this just rankled me lots. Like they assumed I would want such ads. What was the point of telling me I had an ad for approval and yet having it already up? Yeah I just had to cut the cord.
