Current RPG I'm Playing Day-WoW?

Well not quite. A few family and friends decided to tinker around and set up a private server. *Cue angry indignant voices of concern and rage* Don't worry, all 7 of us (save for me atm) pay for real WoW and just were curious. And I've been craving some WoW action and so jumped in.

Now...it wasn't quite the best. You can start with collectors pets, people can set up GM modes and leveling was sped up x3. But only one person was running as GM, and the server for all its flavor was buggy as all hell. Quests sometimes didn't work, and somethings like class abilities did not function as intended.

But I rolled in there, with the limited interaction, and started to steam roll through content, dinging a respectable 24 levels in merely 2 play sessions on my wayward mage gal. It felt good to feel comfortable behind the keys again.

But it felt bland. Empty. Part of the fun was interacting with strangers (that become friends), running instances with pugs, dodging Allies and their gank attempts. And knowing that on a whim if I bug the GM enough I can get anything I want, just kinda defeats the fun of the game. I personally found that I just couldn't take a private server seriously.

I just can't get into it. I mean live servers in the end will not exist. But achievements, ranks, gear= to the WoW player base will matter as it can be verified and confirmed. Whatever I achieve in here, well wont. I could be rolling around in all T9 with a ZG cat but no one but us will see it or feel like I did the work to gain them. So other than for some small time fun, I prolly won't tinker too long with it.

At least I got my mind in the right set for the grind 70-80 will be. *Sigh*

I´ve tried "open servers" as well, but they suck ;)

It's funny when GMs can ride on Nef and Kael, but yeah very buggy. I don't take the free server seriously though.

It's not -that- much of a grind, provided you mix it up a bit with instances and questing, and ride the rested wave :)

Then again, it won't happen over night!

/agree with your sentiments about private servers.

If you win a game but were using god mode hax to do it, did you really win? Same thing I think.

Yeah played Wrath today for like 5-6 hours and easily leveled. Though I think it helped I installed quest helper :)
